How we help KBC's people become strategic partners for clients

Everyone knows KBC as one of the biggest bank-insurers in the country. But the group does more: as a strategic partner for clients, it helps make dreams come true. And Atlas helps KBC’s people build and deepen the growth skills they need. How? Johan De Corte, Skills expert commercial & leadership development, explains.

De sterke expertise, hands-on aanpak, het open partnership en authenticiteit: daarom werken we graag samen met Atlas.

The meaning of 'growth' in KBC's dictionary

growth (noun)

  1. keeping pace with a changing world and evolving client expectations
  2. helping clients grow: providing support to make dreams come true, and to protect them
  3. growth skills: the set of skills needed for (2), championed by – and continuously developed among – all KBC employees

Enter Atlas

“People have dreams,” Johan begins. “Some want to buy or insure a car, others want to start a business or protect their wealth. KBC wants to support them as well as possible. What’s more: we want clients to think of us straight away as the go-to partner to help make those dreams come true.

Being seen as a partner – not merely as a bank and insurer – requires a strong connection with the client. “That’s one of our key growth skills – and we’ve been building it with Atlas since 2021,” says Johan.

Grow: partnering for client success

Johan: “Having already completed a whole series of training sessions, our commercial staff now feel more confident working intensively with clients. We call that ‘partnering for client success’.”

“Making dreams come true, and protecting them, is a noble mission. Creating a win-win that brings added value to both client and KBC is one too. How can we make our client interactions even more successful? How do we prospect efficiently? We’ve already picked up a lot from Atlas on these topics.”

“The strong expertise, the hands-on approach, the open partnership and authenticity: that’s why we enjoy working with Atlas.”

Growth building blocks at KBC

Salesexpertise

a clear understanding of today's and tomorrow's market movements – and how to respond to them.

An engaging approach

getting employees excited and helping them grow their expertise through concrete cases, tonnes of inspiration, practical advice and lots of interaction.

Partnership

with open conversations and mutual understanding, the whole collaboration is a win-win too, not a cool supplier-client relationship.

Authenticity

daring to challenge one another, while respecting everyone's personality and beliefs.

How: instantly applicable insights

Ask participants what they think of Atlas – as KBC does after every training session – and you get the same answers, time and again. “The satisfaction level is always exceptionally high,” says Johan. “Lots of interaction, practical, instantly applicable. The trainers have a convincing flair and clear expertise – that goes down really well.”

Atlas's trainers show us how to communicate our added value better. They broaden our perspective, and manage to keep inspiring even people with years of experience.

Who are we talking about? KBC has already welcomed Frederik De Waele, Sofie Spaepen, Gwen Kuylen, Gert Van den Abbeele and Francis Tulpin. Who’s next? “No idea, but I’m curious to see what new insights they’ll come up with. I’m a real innovator at heart,” Johan concludes.
